You may have noticed that we have been running Truckload Sales every 3 months or so and perhaps have asked yourself why?  The reason is that we feel it is something that was borne of necessity during a challenging year for everyone, but became a great way to offer another service to the customers we value.  Being able to sell restaurant quality cases of meat and seafood direct to you at excellent prices with convenient trunk drop, drive thru service seems to be a win win for everyone involved.  We know it is time to run another one when we start to get calls and emails saying I’m almost out of bacon! When is the next truckload sale??  So, for the foreseeable future you can expect that we will be offering these sales every 3 – 4 months.  Knowing they are a dependable way to fill your freezer may help you plan your shopping accordingly.  This time around we have added a FREE $20 Millstone Public House Gift Card to every order of four cases or more.  Once you fill your freezer we’d love to see you in the pub with a cold drink in your hand.

This sale is on now and will close on Monday August 23rd at 1:00 sharp.  Pick up will be on Wednesday August 25th.  Customers can either pick up their orders at the Baker Drive Millstone in the morning or the Bedford Millstone in the afternoon on that day.  If you want to place an order but are unable to pick up on Wednesday August 25th you can simply provide your order receipt to a friend or family member and ask them to pick up your cases on your behalf.  We are NOT able to store your orders at the Millstone Public House as we do not have the freezer space to do so.  Unclaimed cases will be donated to Feed Nova Scotia.

With three locations in HRM, The Millstone Public House is proud to be locally owned and operated.  We live here, work here, play here, shop here, have kids in schools here and know in our hearts that this is one of the greatest cities on earth.  When we opened our newest location at King’s Wharf on the waterfront in Dartmouth we were thrilled to participate in the growth and development of Downtown Dartmouth while also creating more than 20 jobs.  Despite all the challenges of running a small business, this is something that makes us feel good.  Our staff are incredible and work so hard to win your loyalty and your business and love getting to the point where they know what you want before you even have to ask.  That’s hospitality at it’s best.

Well, it has been a year.  We can all pat ourselves on the back for enduring the many challenges this time has presented us with.  From missing our families, to cancelling travel plans; from homeschooling while on a Zoom call to dutifully standing on spacer dots at the grocery store and waiting ever so patiently for things to return to normal.  Our capacity to adapt and endure has shown us that we are a strong and caring bunch here in Nova Scotia.  Together we crushed wave 3 faster than anticipated and can now see the summer opening up in front of us.  Well done!

For now, we are only open for Patio dining and take out at all three Millstone locations.  The King’s Wharf ocean view terrace can accommodate up to 40 people, with two beautiful fire tables, so we have decided to open it 7 days a week at 11:30 am (weather permitting).  The patios at Baker Drive and in Bedford are small and have limited seating but we are happy to serve you some cold drinks and excellent food in the sunshine while we can.  Those locations are closed Monday and Tuesday, open Thursday 4:00 – 9:00, Friday and Saturday 12:00 – 9:00 and Sunday 4:00 – 9:00 for take out and dine in.

We anticipate being able to open all three locations to full operations and indoor dining next Wednesday June 16th.  If you would like to book a table please give us a call and we will pencil you in.  There are better days ahead…it’s going to be a fun summer of reconnecting and saying goodbye to some of the restrictions.

Let us introduce you to our new Buttermilk Chicken Biscuit Sliders!

We start by slicing the premium chicken into smaller pieces and soaking it in seasonings and buttermilk as always…then we deep fry it to golden brown.  This gives each bite that crispy coating of breading that we all love so much.  The biscuits are made from scratch fresh in house on a daily basis – walk in to our kitchen and you’ll almost always see someone pulling a tray out of the oven.  This dish now ranks among the top sellers so demand for those pillowy cheese and chive biscuits is very high!

When you order the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Biscuit Sliders our trained cooks will pile them up with hot chicken, fresh arugula, melting brie cheese and crispy onion rings.  The drizzle of house made sriracha mayo will pull the whole dish together.  Did we mention that you’ll get two sliders  AND hand cut french fries AND salad.  It very well could be the best new burger in town.  Come try it!

One year ago all restaurants in Nova Scotia were closed to dine in service and thousands of staff were laid off.  Everyone was afraid and uncertain and staying the blazes home.  It was certainly a time of trepidation and panic for everyone. In that moment the future of the hospitality industry in this beautiful city looked uncertain…until you stepped in.  You decided that you wanted to live in a place filled with locally owned restaurants that were unique and lively and  provided jobs to your neighbours.

You picked up your phone and gave us your support as well as your dinner order.  You took home boxes filled with hot pasta dishes, cold desserts, delicious burgers and more.  You added bottles of wine and beer and tipped our frazzled staff and it made all the difference.  We wouldn’t be here without you and we thank you for that.

We are feeling a lot of love these days.  With less than three weeks under our belt at the King’s Wharf location our reservation book is filling up and our seats are wearing in.  Our staff have really gone above and beyond to welcome you into the space and make you feel at home.  The awesome regulars at Millstone Baker Drive and Millstone Bedford have continued to show their love to their community pub and many have made the trip to the waterfront to say hello and raise a glass to that ocean view.  Simply put, we couldn’t do what we do without you and we are forever grateful!

The love fest continues this weekend with a Valentine’s Day feast.

With three days under our belt at the King’s Wharf Millstone we have been blown away by the welcoming reception into this new community.  We received beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers and so may kind words and compliments on the space and our staff.  It is our goal to become your spot…your local…an extension of your own living room.  Alone or in a group; with colleagues, family or friends, we have a table for you and the friendly, knowledgeable service you have come to expect from us.

At all of our locations we know ease of parking is important and we are happy to inform you that we have secured free parking in the lower gravel area at King’s Wharf for use by our customers.  If you are unable to find on street parking you can access the lower parking area by the ramp at the end of the cul de sac (not the underground parking for residents of the building).  To exit you will need a code that your server will be happy to give you.  This code will change weekly for security.

It’s time to get excited again!  We have circled the sun for a challenging year and are now ready to lift our heads and look ahead.  As the days get longer, the sun gets warmer and our incredible nurses, doctors and scientists work their magic we will emerge from our hibernation with a renewed appreciation for simple freedoms and gathering together to share our good times with friends and family.  At the Millstone Public House we have found a great deal of good in this tough year  and are now excited to launch our newest location at King’s Wharf in beautiful downtown Dartmouth.  The staff have been hired, training is well underway, the kitchen is fired up and the wine cellar is well stocked.  Soon we will welcome you in and share some that East Coast hospitality we are known for…. stay tuned.
