Check out this month’s Masthead News for this article about the Millstone Public House! We are thrilled to be part of your community.
“The Millstone Public House has found a place in the competitive restaurant industry by focussing on what customers are searching for. In designing their pub, local owners Adam and Joanne McCullough have created a space with a welcoming and engaging atmosphere, friendly and efficient service and well prepared meals made with fresh ingredients. The result has won them many fans in the community and allowed them to do what they love doing best.
Modelled after their successful Dartmouth location, the Bedford Millstone Public House is a cozy nook with great lighting and a retro sports theme. The walls display interesting historic photos of athletes while vintage sports equipment hangs on hooks as if left there by players who have long given up the game. A well worn wooden toboggan and an old pedal bike hang quaintly above diners adding just the right amount of charm to their modern dining room. This theme is meant to inspire a feeling of nostalgia, they say, and remind us to focus on the fun that is to be had in life.
The menu offers “elevated pub food” meaning they do things like top their seasoned, hand pressed hamburgers with chef created flavour combinations like arugula, brie and sautéed mushrooms. The Candied Bacon Burger is a must try. The culinary style, developed by renowned Chef James MacDougall, provides customers with a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich that literally bursts out of the bread and exceptional fish tacos made with fresh slices of avocado and house made pico de gallo. Other finds include a Creamy Maple Curry Chicken Penne and a Classic Seafood Linguine, both of which would be at home in fine dining establishments. On the lighter side you’ll find a classic Italian Caprese Salad and a fresh Spinach and Goat Cheese Salad tossed with house made grapefruit vinaigrette dressing. With great kids’ meals, gluten free and vegetarian options, an excellent weekend brunch and full bar, there is something for everyone to enjoy. If you’re looking for a mid week treat, come for Wing Wednesday when chicken wings are half price after 5:00pm. If you’re into beer, five of their ten draft taps are dedicated to local craft breweries. Happy Hour runs Sunday to Thursday 3:00 to 6:00pm.
Located in the beautiful new Sante Centre on Gary Martin Drive, the pub is conveniently found across the street from the BMO Centre in West Bedford. The entrance, as well as ample free parking, is tucked away at the back. Those who know where The Millstone Public House is say it is worth the search. Their motto “Come as you are” is emblazoned above the front door. Once you see that you’ll know you’ve arrived.
