A labour of love…

After proudly serving this great community for just over a year and a half it must be said that we love what we do.  When we began to dream about the Millstone, back in the fall of 2015, we imagined a place that would welcome everyone and make lone diners and groups of 30 feel at home in our Public House.  The softness of the leather booths, the roughness of the antique rowing paddles, the smoothness of the 300 year old bar top….it’s all meant to give our valued customers a sense of calm and a pinch of nostalgia.  The muted sports theme is a call to remember what it means to play and an invitation to do it again.

We are very happy to announce that we have been offered the chance to breathe life into another Millstone Public House, this one in Bedford.  Cindy Toner and Jason Plotsky, owners of the new Sante Centre, dined with their young family at our pub back in the spring of this year.  They loved it, they felt it…they got it and something inspired them to ask if we would be interested in developing the last vacant space in their building.  Humbled by their offer, we began to imagine another labour of love coming together across the water.  It felt both exciting and daunting but once again the faces staring out from our antique sports photos said ‘do it, you are here but once”.  We leaned in and said yes.

From that moment to this one we’ve been hard at work pulling it all together.  It must be warm, welcoming and inspiring.  The food must comfort and wow our guests.  From paint colours, to unique decorations and the padding in the chairs, it’s all been carefully considered to invite our new friends to dine with us.  We are grateful for the chance and excited at what’s to come!

The official grand opening is scheduled for November 18th and will be celebrated in style by the entire Sante building.  Our doors are likely to crack open before then though.  Like proud parents, we can’t wait to introduce our new baby.  Stay tuned here for details.

To everyone who has raised a glass at the bar, a burger at a table and an eyebrow in conversation at the Millstone Public House we want to  take a moment to sincerely thank you for inviting us into your lives and giving us this chance to do what we love to do!  Cheers to many more…

Sincerely,

Adam and Joanne
